A West Bank Demerara woman’s car was stolen and found yesterday following her choosing to be a Good Samaritan by providing a lift for a known man.
According to a police press release, forty-eight-year-old Abigail Brutus of Recht-Door-Zee, West Bank Demerara was driving her brown 212 motorcar and was in the company of her thirty-one-year-old brother at the time of the incident.
Enquiries revealed that the two were proceeding east along the Canal Number One Public Road when they were stopped near the identifiable suspect who asked for a drop. Arriving at the Bagotville Junction, Brutus and her brother exited the car and went into the supermarket situated at the junction leaving the key in the ignition and the suspect seated in the car. Upon their return five minutes later they discovered the car missing.
A report was made to the police but the suspect could not be found. The car however, was recovered in Georgetown later yesterday by public-spirited citizens.
