The Hilbert Foster-led Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) at the weekend honoured former Guyana and West Indies opening batsman, Clayton Lambert, and a crop of their current cricket ambassadors, who have either represented Guyana and/or the West Indies.

Lambert, according to the board, received the highest Award, Tribute to Heroes.

“BCB President Hilbert Foster described the former national and West Indies opening batsman as an outstanding Berbice hero and positive role model,” the board revealed in a press release, noting that award was handed over by vice-president, Albert Smith.

Meanwhile, the board also honoured several Berbice players under a special Brian Ramphal Awards programme at the board office in New Amsterdam. Veerasammy Permaul, who is seeking a West Indies recall for the tour of Bangladesh, was honoured for taking the most wickets in the 2020 CWI season while Anthony Bramble was also recognised for being the wicket keeper with the most dismissals by a Guyanese at the regional level.

Promising all-rounder Romario Shepherd was also honoured for scoring a first-class century, 133 vs New Zealand `A’ while Nial Smith was recognised for making his first class debut. Shimron Hetmyer and Kevin Sinclair were also honoured in their absence.

Foster hailed the awardees as proud sons of Berbice cricket, noting that they are outstanding ambassadors of the county. He urged them to continue working hard. Each of the awardees received trophies and medals from the BCB.
