Married Men defeated Bachelors by 27 runs Saturday to win the eighth annual Lusignan Sports Club Boxing Day T20 encounter.
The husbands won the toss and opted to bat first under overcast conditions and on a flat wicket with a freshly cut outfield.
The Married Men ended on 213 for eight from their full quota. They then limited their opponents to 186 all out in 18.3 overs.
Each side has now won four encounters since the tradition began.
Keon Franklin starred with the bat, blasting four sixes and four fours in the top score of 65. Support came from Navin Persaud, who blasted two sixes and four fours during his 44-run innings.
Gewan Persaud (3x4s, 1×6) and Vishnu Ramjeet (3x4s, 2x6s) chipped in with cameos of 30 runs each.
Azad Mohamed was the pick of the bowlers for the bachelors, picking up two for 24. Mike Persaud, Roy Seebaran and Karamchan Persaud also took two wickets for 26, 27 and 32 runs respectively.
The Bachelors’ chase was curtailed by Aknaut Budhai who snatched 5-24 while Amar Persaud, Shameer Mohamed and Keshwar Singh grabbed two wickets each.
Kumar Bishundial tried valiantly to outgun the Married Men, clubbing six sixes and two fours but was dismissed for 65. Robin Williams also looked set to steer his team over the line but departed for 47 after hitting four sixes and two fours. Azad Mohamed made 26, highlighted by two fours and two sixes but no other batsman got going.
