BCB President urges clubs to renew commitment

President of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB), Hilbert Foster, has called on executives of the board and cricket clubs in Berbice to renew their commitment to the county by leading not only with hard work but by example.

Foster was speaking at a special Brian Ramphal award ceremony held at the board’s office in New Amsterdam at the weekend where several cricketers were honoured.

“The President stated that for our cricket to climb even higher than the present standard, it would need all hands-on deck and there is no space for laziness, looking over of shoulders for personal rewards and disunity. While he praised the current executives for their cooperation in the past, he urged them to do even more in the future,” a release from the BCB stated.

According to the release, Foster also unveiled the board’s plans for 2021 where they intend to host 30 tournaments, including the first ever Professional League with 12 teams.

The board also intends to launch a county-wide coaching programme with special emphasis on one-on-one coaching with youths, in addition to other cricket development initiatives.
