A twenty-five-year-old barber was on Tuesday night allegedly robbed at Crane, West Coast Demerara by a man with whom he was drinking only moments before at Parika. The suspect was subsequently arrested.
According to a police report, the victim, Leroy DeSantos, who resides at Ocean View, Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara, was in the company of the suspect and other persons around 6.15pm imbibing together at Parika.

DeSantos immediately exited the car after which the suspect sped off but lost control of his car which resulted in him ending up in a nearby trench. After making further checks, the victim discovered that his wallet containing $50,000 was missing.
The suspect was subsequently contacted by the police following a report being made but he denied the allegation. He was arrested and taken to the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station where he was placed in custody.
Three pieces of yellow metal chain were handed over to the police by De Santos. The pieces of chain along with the suspect’s car were lodged at the police station.
