The dead body of a man was found in his Goed Fortuin home by police yesterday.
Police say they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Gopaul Bissoon, 49, who was a resident of Barclay Street, Goed Fortuin, on the West Bank Demerara.
An unknown caller was said to have tipped off the police about the man’s death around 1.20 pm yesterday. Acting on information they received, a police rank was sent to the home of Bissoon, where he found Bissoon’s body. The rank checked for marks of violence but none was seen.
According to a police statement, Bissoon, who lived with his brother, was epileptic and was also known to drink excessively. He was last seen alive by his brother half an hour before his body was found.
The body was taken to the West Demerara Hospital, where a doctor on duty confirmed Bissoon’s death. His body was then escorted to the Ezekiel Funeral Home and a post-mortem examination has been scheduled.
