A man was arrested last Thursday after he was found with 2.265 kilogrammes of suspected cannabis in his possession.
Mark Brooks, also known as ‘Polo,’ a 32-year-old labourer of Lot 195 Mocha, East Bank Demerara, was arrested at the Vreed-en-Hoop Ferry Stelling after police, acting on information, conducted a search and found the illegal drugs.
A police report stated that at about 11.45 am, police ranks visited the stelling and conducted a search of Brooks but found nothing of “evidential value”. However, a further search was conducted on a bulky black plastic bag that Brooks was holding and two bulky parcels containing leaves, stems and seeds, suspected to be cannabis, were found.
The cannabis was weighed and amounted to 2.265 kilogrammes.
Brooks allegedly told one of the ranks, “Sir, is just a hustle. I dropping it for a man”. He was subsequently arrested and is due to face charges.
