A stunning run chase by V-Net Connections, spurred them to a thrilling win over Dream XI in the opening fixture of the “Pure Entertainment Stars on Show” seven-a-side tapeball tournament at D’urban Park last Sunday.

Dream XI batted first and posted 111 for one from their allotted six overs with Indian Premier League (IPL) winner, Sherfane Rutherford, belting 62 in a knock, which included six fours and five sixes.  Rutherford was savage on anything short and swatted former national seamer, Trevor Benn, for 21 runs from the first over.  He got support from West Indies Under -19 selectee, Joshua Persaud (27).

V-Net, in response, hunted down the target in the final over to reach 114-1 to knock out one of the pretournament’s favourites. Kemol Savory (43) was the man to spearhead the successful run-chase. He, along with his opening partner, David Williams (21), plundered former national under 19 pacer, Seon Daniels for 24 off the first over to set an ideal tone for the run-chase before Williams ended the game with a maximum by swatting Steven Sankar over his head for six.

The tournament will conclude this weekend at the same venue with the winner set to walk away with over $100,000.
