Police are investigating the death of a two-year-old toddler of Lower Kaituma, North West District, who collapsed and died on Tuesday midday while playing.
According to a police report, the child has a history of epilepsy. He resided with his grandparents, a 65-year-old grandfather who is a farmer and his 60-year-old grandmother. At the time of the incident which occurred at about 12pm on Tuesday, he was playing with a six-year-old cousin when he suddenly collapsed to the ground and remained motionless.
His grandmother who was nearby, picked him up and rushed him to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 4.30pm.
The toddler’s body is currently at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post mortem.
