Line-Top and Bachelors will now have a year of bragging rights after the 21st annual Success Games kick started 2021.
The traditional T20 tournament is played over a three-day period beginning with the Open category on Boxing Day with Line-Top battling Success Scheme while on New Year’s Day, Bachelors took on the Married Men.
The event was expected to culminate on the first Sunday of the new year but due to rain it was postponed.
In the Boxing Day encounter, Line-Top defeated Success Scheme by 110 runs. Line-Top won the toss and elected to bat, piling up 219 from their allotted 20 overs. Success Scheme was then bundled out for 109 in 13 overs.
Leading the way with the bat for Line-Top was Fazal Rafeek who made 92. His innings was decorated with five sixes and eight fours. Tai Singh, clubbed four sixes and three fours in 43. Suraj Budhoo and Kevin Orford were the principal bowlers for Success Scheme with two wickets each for 30 and 33 runs respectively.
In reply, Orford was the only batsman to show promise with a top score of 32.
Rafeek proved too much to handle, ending with 3-16. Leo Singh bagged 3-23 Dayram Ramnauth 2-18.
On New Year’s Day, the single men got the better of the Married Men, easing to a seven-wicket win with an over to spare.
Married Men took first strike after winning the toss and posted 174 for nine from 15 overs with Ravi Ramnauth smashed two sixes and three fours but fell one short of a half century while Boodhoo chipped in with 32.
Seepersaud was the leading bowler for Bachelors, taking 4-24 from three overs while Orford took 2- 33.
In reply, Bachelors eased their way to 175 for three in 14 overs with Travis Fung hammering five sixes and seven fours in the top score of 84 not out. Fung added 115 with Orford who made 53.
