Ruptured city main floods homes, halts traffic

The flood waters receding after the main was fixed

Two houses on Duncan Street were flooded yesterday after ongoing construction works on Sheriff Street led to the rupture of a Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) water main.

In addition to the flooding of the two houses, the ruptured main also resulted in a halt to the vehicular traffic traversing  Duncan Street.

During a live update on the Ministry’s Facebook page, Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill stated that GWI and the sub-contractor who caused the rupture worked together and the issue was resolved within the hour.
