Courtney Noel is turning things up a notch this year with the release of a new single, “Set Fiyah 2 My Blood”, set to debut next week. The song reflects on a bittersweet experience.
This is the first time that Courtney has dabbled in the old school R&B genre that was big in the 1970, but he said it will not be the last.
He confessed that the song was about an old flame who got under his skin. It was arranged and co-produced by Courtney himself and fellow Queen’s College alumna Owen Romeo of Tribal Legacy Studios in Brooklyn, while further production was done by Lee Evans Jambox Studios in Manhattan.
“Set Fiyah 2 My Blood” will be released on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. The singer is currently working towards having the song released on all online platforms such as Spotify and iTunes.
Courtney, who is currently in Guyana trying to establish himself with the new administration to take on promotional projects in health and tourism, noted that while last year marked the 20th anniversary of the writing of “Arrowhead”, this year serves as the 20th anniversary of its release. His big plans to celebrate last year were cancelled as a result of the pandemic. However, he is not about to let this year slide by without some observance.
“Arrowhead” was played every year for the past two decades at Mashramani and for two years in a row it was played the most on Mashramani Day, but it was nominated for any award. However, Courtney said he finds great satisfaction in knowing that it is part of his legacy and that he has so far created a lasting impression on family and friends. “My kids are proud, and my family is proud and that means the world to me. Money comes, money goes but a legacy remains forever,” said the singer.
While 2020 has left its imprint on many including Courtney, he declared that 2021 is not going to be the same for him. One of the ways he intends to achieve this is by releasing a new song every month. Already he is working on several other songs but likely, his most anticipated project this year could be the video of “Arrowhead” expected to be completed in time for independence.
