The Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) on Thursday presented hampers to residents of the flood-affected Charity Squatting Area.
A release from the bank said that the team was led by Acting Chief Executive Officer James Foster who was accompanied by Public Relations and Marketing Manager, Pamela Binda, and Tage Ahlam, and Romario Persaud from the GBTI Anna Regina Branch.
Foster said he read about the flooding from media reports and was moved to extend help, the release said. He said that having walked through the streets of Charity he saw that the need was greater than anticipated and noted that GBTI will continue to follow reports and see what future help can be given.
Several beneficiaries extended thanks to the bank for its support.
Monique Edwards, a mother of 7, said she was happy to receive the hamper which comprised essential food and cleaning supplies, the release said. She added that her land had been under floodwater for days and her husband is currently unemployed.
