A fire this morning at Little Diamond on the East Bank of Demerara has left one person dead.
The person who died in the fire has been identified as Krystle Chung, 26. The fire occurred at 8 Public Road, Little Diamond.
A neighbour of the deceased said that persons ran to the victims’ assistance but the fire spread quickly preventing them from helping. He noted that fire-fighters responded quickly and did their best to keep the fire under control.
Out of the five persons residing at the home, four were able to escape, the man related.
When Stabroek News arrived on the scene, fire-fighters were continuing to hose the house. Shortly after, the charred remains of the young woman were taken from the right front section of the home.
No cause has yet been established for the blaze.
