Patentia labourer robbed by cutlass wielding bandit

A twenty-one-year-old West Bank Demerara labourer was on Tuesday night robbed of his valuables by a man armed with a cutlass.

According to a police report, the victim, Daniel Rooplall of Back Street, Patentia, was walking along the Patentia Public Road at about 8.30pm when he was robbed of an LG cellphone valued $40,000 by an identified suspect.

It was stated that Rooplall was on his way home when the suspect pounced upon him and held a cutlass to his neck demanding that he hand over his valuables to which the victim complied. The attacker then escaped on foot.

The incident was reported at the Wales Police Station and a subsequent search for the suspect was unsuccessful.
