A father of one died on Tuesday night following an accident on the Soesdyke/ Linden Highway.
Uriel Reynolds, 31, of Manipur Street, Prashad Nagar, Georgetown, succumbed after a collision involving a pick-up and the mini bus he was in.
A Police report stated that at approximately 19:15 hours on the Soesdyke/ Linden Highway, Reynolds was driving a minibus bearing registration number PPP 3468 when a car collided with a pick-up.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the pick-up lost control of his vehicle and collided with the mini bus driven by Reynolds.
Reynolds was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The other occupant in the vehicle was also taken to the GPH and treated for injuries.
A Breathalyzer test conducted on the drivers of the car and the pickup, found no trace of alcohol.
Ariannis Reynolds, the wife of the deceased, was in the minibus when the accident occurred.
The grieving woman told Stabroek News that they were heading back to Georgetown after visiting a friend on the Highway when the accident occurred.
Ariannis suffered injuries to her right arm and lower abdomen.
Eion Reynolds, the father of the deceased, in a Facebook post stated that he lost his youngest son “after the driver of a 4×4, going at a fast rate of speed hit the vehicle in front of my son then slammed head on into the bus my son was driving on the Linden Highway.”
The man added that “this accident will not be swept under the rug like so many other, JUSTICE will be served, if it’s the last thing I do.”
