Minister of Labour Joseph Hamilton has announced plans to set up a labour office at Kwakwani and to appoint a Board of Industrial Training (BIT) officer to ensure training and labour needs in the Region Ten community are met.
According to a Department of Public Information (DPI) report, Hamilton made the announcement during a Cabinet outreach to the region last Thursday when he met with residents at the Kwakwani Workers Club.
“Training is essential, but… on-the-job safety must be top on the list. A Labour Office will be erected in Kwakwani to deal with any issues. This will relieve the burden of residents travelling to Georgetown,” he was quoted as saying.
