Canje River ganja farm destroyed

A quantity of the plants which were destroyed

Members of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Wednesday conducted an exercise in the Canje River during which they found approximately twelve acres of cultivated cannabis.

The police yesterday said that the exercise was carried out between 4.30 am and 5.30 pm  between Ekura and Sand Landing, Canje River.

The plants which amounted to some 400,000 altogether measured between four and five feet in height.

Ranks also found eleven make-shift camps with water pumps, two generators, two ploughing machines and a quantity of cannabis seeds.

They were destroyed by fire.

Additionally, a number of other items including a boat engine, two weeding machines and a shotgun with 95 spent shells were discovered.

They were lodged at the Central Police Station. No arrest has been made.
