Human tissue transplant legislation could be ready by May

A bill on human tissue transplanting could be ready for parliament by May this year, according to a release on Wednesday from the Attorney General’s Chambers.

The release said that Attorney General Anil Nandlall on Wednesday met with members of the Medical Council of Guyana and Dr. Kishore Persaud, Head of Department, Multi-Organ Transplant and Vascular Access Surgery, and his team from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

They discussed the enacting of legislation that will govern human tissue transplant and related ethical issues.
