Dear Editor,
I am sorry to come over as Freddie, but where is Guyana’s moral compass? Has it been thrown into the Atlantic Ocean?
Six disparate events in the last six months – a Minister who accepts birthday gifts from public bodies, ‘forgets’ about them, denies then admits them; another Minister who nominates the birthday ‘gift’ she wants to be given; a senior official who allegedly gets a flat pack barber shop from the state, a senior office holder who buys himself a present-at public expense-for ‘International Men’s Day’.
The burglary of the body responsible for police promotions and a President who clings by his fingertips to power for five months after losing a democratic election…shoved off the ledge by the US Secretary of State.
You could not make it up; you have no need to.
All are real.
Send in the divers for that compass. Soon.
Yours faithfully,
John ‘Bill Cotton/Reform’ Mair
