Guyana’s COVID-19 fatalities have increased to 174 as two new deaths have been recorded.
The Ministry of Health made this revelation in a press release yesterday where it stated that the latest fatalities are a 74-year-old man from Region Ten and a 58-year-old man from Region Four
Meanwhile, 29 new cases were yesterday recorded which increased the total number of COVID-19 cases in Guyana to 7,346.
The new cases came after some 201 more persons were tested for the virus thus increasing the total number of persons tested in the country to 47,096. According to the regional distribution of cases, the new cases were recorded in six of Guyana’s ten administrative regions: three new cases in Region Three, 9 cases in Region Four, 8 in Region Five, four in Region Seven, one in Region Eight and four in Region Ten.
As a result there are now 714 active cases, 42 of whom are in institutional isolation while the other 672 are in home isolation. Further there are now 5 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Additionally, eight persons are in institutional quarantine while 21 more persons have recovered from the virus. The total number of recovered cases in Guyana now stands at 6,455.
