Police have arrested a suspect in relation to the murder of Osafo Pollard, the 29-year-old man who was shot while attending a party in North East La Penitence earlier this week.
This was confirmed by Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum, who told Stabroek News that the suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
Pollard, a resident of Lot 44 James Street, West La Penitence, was killed at about 10.30 pm on Tuesday.
He was shot in the head.
The police had said enquiries revealed that a loud explosion similar to that of a gunshot was heard followed by persons screaming and running and Pollard was seen lying on the ground with a wound to his head.
He was picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he succumbed to his injuries at about 12.20 am the following day while undergoing treatment.
A video seen by this newspaper showed Pollard lying on the ground gasping, as persons stood in proximity awaiting the arrival of an ambulance.
