The police in Region Two are investigating the suspected drowning of a 27-year-old man, whose lifeless body was found submerged in a trench where he had gone to take a bath.
The dead man has been identified as Lennox Ballieram of Abram Zuil, Essequibo.
The police, in a press release, yesterday said that the incident occurred sometime between Thursday night and yesterday.
According to the police, Ballieram’s mother related that he left home around 8pm on Thursday to take a bath in a trench situated in front their home.
However, he did not return. As a result, the woman said she alerted Ballieram’s brother and they checked for him but he was not found.
Around 6.30am yesterday, the police said Ballieram’s brother noticed his towel next to a trench.
Upon checking, he discovered Ballieram’s body submerged in the water.
Ballieram’s body was retrieved and escorted to the Suddie Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy will be conducted in the new week.
