(Barbados Nation) Former Barbados and West Indies fast bowler Ezra Moseley died tragically in a road accident here this morning.
Reports indicated that Moseley, who celebrated his 63rd birthday last month, was riding a bicycle along the ABC Highway when he was in a collision with an SUV driven by a teenager at the Balls, Christ Church junction.
Moseley played two Tests in 1990 for the West Indies against England at the age of 32 and also had nine One-Day Internationals.
He took 279 wickets in 135 first-class matches at an average of 23.31. He also captured 102 wickets in 79 List A matches at an economy of 3.75 runs per over.
Moseley was cricket coach at The St Michael School where he played an integral role in the development of West Indies’ Test captain Jason Holder.
He served as a national selector for the Barbados senior men’s side, the successful Barbados women’s team and was also an assistant coach for the West Indies’ women’s team.
Before making his Barbados debut, Moseley, who hails from Waldron’s Village, Christ Church, first played first-class cricket for Glamorgan in the English county championship in 1980 and 1981.
He also represented Eastern Province and Northern Transvaal in South Africa, where he had toured with the West Indies’ rebel team in 1982-83 and was slapped with a life ban, which was subsequently lifted.
