A motorcyclist is now in a critical condition at a city hospital after he was involved in a collision along Brickdam early yesterday morning.
Injured is Patrick Perry, 35 of Victoria Road, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, who collided with a car.
Police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Royston Andries-Junor confirmed the accident, which occurred around 2.05am, in the vicinity of the Ministry of Housing.
He said the driver of the car, a 28-year-old resident of Turkeyen, was arrested and is currently assisting with the investigations.
According to the police, the driver alleged that he was proceeding along Brickdam while Perry was heading in the same direction in front him.
The driver said as he was about to overtake Perry when the motorcyclist swerved into his path, resulting in the collision.
Perry fell onto the road surface where he sustained injuries about his body.
He was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where he was admitted.
The police said a breathalyser test revealed that the driver of the car was not under the influence at the time of the accident.
