Three hurt after driver crashes into utility pole at Kingelly

Three Corentyne residents are now patients at the Fort Wellington Public Hospital after the car they were returning home in yesterday crashed into an electricity pole and fence at Kingelly Village, West Coast Berbice Public Road.

Around 3.30 pm yesterday, driver, Leon Sanasie, 45, of Section ‘D’, Belvedere, Corentyne was proceeding in motor car, PNN 5721 with three occupants: Samome Sharif, 23, of Lot 41 Albion, Corentyne, Berbice; Sarai Magalee, 19, Lot 207 Block X Hampshire Village, Corentyne and Veerai Magalee, 23, of Lot 207 Block X Hampshire Village, Corentyne.

According to information gathered, Sanasie was proceeding towards the Berbice River Bridge when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle and swerved into a GPL pole and then struck a wooden fence before coming to a halt.

As a result of the impact, the three passengers sustained injuries about their bodies. They were taken to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital where as of last evening they remained admitted for observation.

The driver is in police custody at the Weldaad Police Station pending an investigation.
