A man was on Monday night stabbed to death during an attack at his Sophia residence.
The deceased has been identified as Kevin Smith, 36, of ‘C’ Field Reserve Dam, Sophia.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF), in a statement, said at about 6.30 pm Smith was attacked by a 22 year-old known suspect, who was armed with a knife.
According to the report, a scuffle ensued between the two men after which the suspect dealt Smith three stabs – to his chest, lower abdomen and above his left knee.
The suspect later escaped.
Meanwhile, when contacted Senior Superintendent Khali Pareshram stated that police have since recovered the murder weapon. However, the suspect is still to be apprehended.
