Two men detained by CANU in cocaine probe

Two men were on Wednesday arrested by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) in relation to an ongoing cocaine probe.

A release from CANU yesterday said that 47-year-old Cordell Moore, a Georgetown/Berbice taxi-driver of Lot 974 Glasgow Housing Scheme, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was intercepted on Wednesday while he was at the Berbice Car Park at Commerce Street, George-town. According to the release, Moore was the sole occupant of the car at the time. It further said that a search of the car unearthed the suspected cocaine, amounting to 504 grammes, which was hidden in a panel of the car’s trunk.

Ulric Jordan, a 50-year-old businessman, was intercepted at his Lot 10 Camp Street, Georgetown, home on the same day. The man had a bag containing a digital table top scale which had traces of the suspected illicit substance on the instrument when he was intercepted, the release said.

The release further stated that they each had a quantity of cash in their possession when they were arrested.

Both men are being investigated in relation to the probe.
