Two houses at Shell Road, Kitty, were gutted by an early morning electrical fire.
According to acting Fire Chief Kalamadeen Edoo, the Guyana Fire Service was summoned to Lot 28 B Shell Road, Kitty, at around 6.30 am to tend to a fire, which was electrical in origin. He said that it was reported that four persons occupied the homes; two persons lived in each.
Maurine Munroe, who lived in one of the houses, told reporters that she left her home at 2 O’clock and when she left her house was fine. She said that she didn’t know how the fire could’ve started because they didn’t have candles or lamps being used.
According to Munroe, her son got a call yesterday morning and he was informed that his house was on fire. She added that her brother, who resides at one of the houses, had also left and didn’t return until after the news about the fire.
