The suspect in the recent fatal stabbing of Sophia resident Kevin Smith was yesterday charged with murder.
Randy Wiggins, 26, of ‘D’ Field Reserve Dam, Sophia, was read the indictable charge when he appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court. The charge was read to him by Magistrate Roschelle Liverpool.
He was remanded until March 24th.
This newspaper previously reported that Smith was arrested last Friday. Senior Superintendent Khali Pareshram had confirmed that the suspect would be charged sometime this week.
Smith, 36, of ‘C’ Field Reserve Dam, Sophia, was attacked at about 6.30 pm last week Monday.
According to a Guyana Police Force, a scuffle ensued between Smith and his assailant, who dealt him three stabs – to his chest, lower abdomen and above his left knee. Smith succumbed to the multiple stab injuries.
