Woman robbed in Festival City home invasion

A 62-year-old woman was yesterday robbed by three men during a home invasion at Festival City.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) stated that Cheryl Baker, of Hummingbird Street, Festival City, had a gun placed in her mouth by the suspects, who relieved her of her belongings.

Police enquiries revealed that Baker at about 1.30 am was awakened by the sound of footsteps in her living room. As a result, she screamed and she was then confronted by the suspects, who held her down on her bed and demanded that she hand over cash and jewellery.

One of the suspects then placed his gun into Baker’s mouth as his partners ransacked the apartment. They robbed her of $160,000 in cash, a Samsung Galaxy cellphone and a 32 inch television.

The suspects gained entry into the home by removing several louvre panes from a window located on the eastern side of the building.
