A police officer is now hospitalised with a fractured pelvic bone after he was hit down by a driver who fled police at Agriculture Access Road, Triumph.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) revealed that Colwin Forrester, a Lance Corporal said to be in charge of the Beterverwagting Police Station Anti-Crime patrol, was hit down last Sunday.
Police enquiries revealed that approximately 9.35 pm while members of the Anti-Crime patrol were patrolling Agriculture Access Road they observed a silver grey 212 car parked on the western side of the road.
Police ranks subsequently attempted to approach the car but it sped off in the northern direction and hit Forrester as it did so.
The driver drove away even after hitting the policeman.
He was picked up and transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and admitted as a patient in the Male Surgical ward, suffering from a broken pelvic bone.
