Four fined for attending party in breach of COVID rules

Four persons who confessed to breaching the COVID-19 Emergency Measures by attending a party were yesterday fined while the alleged host was granted bail.

Fiona Hopkinson, Cleon Critchlow, Dean McRae, Denzil Port, and Javelin Wells were yesterday charged with breaching a COVID-19 Emergency measure when they attended the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court. Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan read the charge to them.

Hopkinson was charged with breaching a restriction to social activities, that is to say, she hosted a private party at Shell Road, Kitty, on February 9, therefore breaching the COVID-19 Emergency Measures. She denied this charge and was released on $5,000 bail. She will make her next appearance at court on March 16.

Critchlow, McRae, Port and Wells, were charged with attending the same party. They admitted to attending the event and were each fined $16,350.
