Cook Alexis Turpin and her lover Stephon Barlow are now likely to face a fresh trial over the 2016 murder of Turpin’s partner, Sherwin Johnson after a jury was unable to arrive at a verdict.
Following hours of deliberations, the jury late last evening returned with a hung verdict regarding the charge against Turpin and Barlow for the fatal July 2nd, 2016 crow bar beating inflicted on Johnson.
The matter was presided over by Justice Brassington Reynolds at the High Court in George-town.
Turpin was represented by attorney Ravindra Mohabir while Barlow was represented by attorney Clyde Forde.
The state’s case was led by Prosecutor Seeta Bishundial, in association with Tyra Bakker.
It is alleged that, on July 2, at George-town, Barlow and Turpin, armed with a crowbar battered Johnson to death.
