Two men were both released on bail on Wednesday after denying that they stole a quantity of angle iron which they were allegedly instructed to transport to Kissoon’s Furniture Store.
Sookram Muniram, 42, of Lot 201 Hope, East Coast Demerara, and Errol Smith, 62, of Lot 9 Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara, were arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where they were read the joint charge by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
The charge states that on 10th February, 2021, at Industrial Estate, Ruimveldt, they stole 25 lengths of angle iron valued $200,000 from Hemraj Kissoon.
Both men denied the charge and were granted bail of $25,000 each. According to the Court Prosecutor, the two men were instructed to transport the iron to the furniture store but after they made the delivery it was discovered that 25 pieces were missing. The two were confronted and they returned the iron.
The matter was adjourned until February 24th.
