A Mash Festival fashion show is slated for MovieTowne next week, where designers will display casual and formal outfits accessorised with matching face masks.

On Wednesday, MovieTowne hosted a preview, which included a display by Hibiscus Couture titled ‘National Tribute’. One model wore a golden gown and a bejewelled coat-of-arms crown. Behind her, five other models took turns on stage before they joined together to form the Guyana flag.

CEO of Hibiscus Couture, designer Denise Jennings enthused that was displayed was just a fragment of what is to come. The idea of the flag, she shared, was conceptualized by creative and production director Oral Welshman.

She revealed that ten models will flaunt 26 pieces during the opening and couture segments. For the opening, the models will wear swimsuits, while the couture category will see them strutting the catwalk in evening gowns.

The Mash Festival will also have artists displaying and selling their craft, carvings, jewelry and other work on the second floor of the mall.

The designer noted that as it relates to upcoming plans in fashion, it is still uncertain owing to the pandemic but if there was going to be an event for independence, then she would definitely look forward to being part of that. She hopes to have a fashion show before the end of the year.
