Local bikers will unchain their competitive juices for the first time this morning since the calendar flipped to 2021.
Riders in the Open, Junior and Veteran categories will go wheel to wheel for the top honours in the Forbes Burnham Memorial road race.
Today’s fixture is scheduled to get off to a fast start from 07:30hrs on CARIFESTA Avenue. The peloton will head east to Belfield and return to the point of origin for the finish.
The 30-mile event which will be held under strict COVID-19 measures, was given the green light by the COVID-19 Task Force and the Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony on Wednesday.
Cycling standout, Marlon ‘Fishy’ Williams won last year’s event which was a two-stage race. Williams along with the rest of the starters will be gunning to get their season off to a positive start today. A thrilling race is on the cards.
