The Juvenile Holding Centre recently received ten new bunk beds, procured by the Ministry of Home Affairs in collaboration with UNICEF Guyana.
The ministry said in a press release that the beds will improve the living conditions of juveniles there. Local mechanical engineer Andy Moore, built the beds which come with a security feature that attaches each bed to the floor. These beds will improve the living standard of juveniles at the facility and will ensure a more overall humane environment, the release said. Presently, additional works are ongoing on the elimination of air pollution and improving the safe water supply at the centre.
