Two men were arrested in the Upper Corentyne area yesterday after it was discovered that an elderly woman of Central Corentyne had been physically and sexually assaulted.
Commander of Region Six, Jairam Ramlakhan, when contacted said investigators were called in just around 8.45 am yesterday.
“Police received a telephone call from a resident and responded promptly and accompanied the victim to the hospital”, he stated.
Stabroek News was told that a medical was done and the results will be handed over to investigators.
According to information gathered, the woman resides alone. Her caretaker yesterday morning discovered that someone had broken into the house and had physically and sexually assaulted the woman.
Around 1.30 pm yesterday, the Commander reported, that the prime suspect and an associate were arrested and placed into custody for questioning.
