Tremayne Smartt’s all-round performance led New Amsterdam/Canje to a 48-run win over West Berbice/Achievers yesterday in the final match of the Berbice Cricket Board/Nand Persaud T20 female tournament.
Playing on home territory at the Rose Hall, Canje ground, New Amsterdam/Canje won the toss and decided to take first strike, posting 135 all out in 30 overs before bundling out West Berbice for a spirited 87 in 24 overs.
The hosts were in a spot of bother after losing Aliyah Samaroo in the first over without a run on the board. They then lost two more wickets for seven runs. However, Ashmini Munisar (13) and Lafona Gilgeous revived the innings and carried the score to 33 before Gilgeous was stumped off of Tia Isaacs.
