The Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) today said that bids were opened for the modern four-lane Eccles to Mandela Highway Project.
In a post on its Facebook page, CH&PA said that in excess of 20 bids for the multi-million-dollar project were opened earlier today at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB).
Chief Executive Officer of CHPA, Sherwyn Greaves was on site this morning for the opening of the tender box along with CEO of NPTAB, Arvind Parag, and Director, Mark Conway.
According to the CH&PA, Greaves described this morning’s opening as a momentous one, stating that the project is geared towards improving the lives of the citizens of this country as promised by the President Irfaan Ali.
With a completion deadline of November 2021, Greaves said persons traversing the East Bank corridor will be able to do so with much greater ease and comfort. He added that the new four-lane highway will also open lands for commercial and residential purposes, and will turn this thoroughfare “into a vibrant and bustling zone”.
The CH&PA said that the CEO assured that the technical staff will ensure the timely completion of the project while holding contractors to high standards to ensure they deliver quality work.
“We will hold the contractors accountable as we will accept nothing less than what they have signed up for. Quality will not be sacrificed, over expediency…our president has made a promise, we will ensure it is kept”, he said.
