The police are investigating an armed robbery committed on Wednesday in Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, on a construction worker and his companion, while they were walking home from a party.
The police reported that the alleged armed robbery committed on 34-year-old Troy Hinds, a construction worker of Sister’s Village, West Bank Demerara, and Natasha Mc Kenzie, 33, of Samanta Point, Grove, East Bank Demerara, occurred on Wednesday at about 00:10 hrs.
It was reported by the police that the pair were robbed by six men who were masked and armed with a gun and broken bottles. They were robbed of $65,000 cash, an iPhone and a Samsung cellphone, the police report said.
It was stated that the two attended a party in Kaneville, and had left when they were attacked from behind while walking in a western direction heading out of Kaneville. The police said that the suspect who was armed with the gun, placed the weapon at the man’s neck and pushed him to the ground where he was relieved of his valuables. The suspect then placed the gun to the woman’s head and relieved her of her valuables as well before the bandits made good their escape.
