The Rotary Club of Garden City (Georgetown) on Friday donated garbage bins to the Protected Areas Commission and the National Parks Commission.
A release from the club said Rotarian Erwin Chapman explained that as the newest Rotary Club in Guyana, its projects and activities will be focused on “supporting the environment”.
Denise Fraser, Commissioner of Protected Areas Commission, and Denise Bentick, Director of the National Parks Commission, expressed their appreciation for the receipt of the items. It was noted that it is a timely donation and that the receptacles will be able to support the cleanliness and aesthetics of the environs.
The Protected Areas Commission (PAC) is mandated to manage, maintain, promote and expand the national protected areas system in Guyana, and gives support to the urban parks in the city, which fall under the purview of the National Parks Commission.
