The Guyana Water Inc says that the community of Kaikan, Region 7, will soon move from having 20 percent to 100 percent access to potable water.
GWI said in a press release on Wednesday that a team from GWI visited the community to conduct resistivity logging in order to determine a viable location to drill a new well later this year. Other works will include pipe laying, upgrading of the storage facility, installation of a photovoltaic system and the installation of individual service connections. The existing system, which serves 20 percent of the community, consists of the pumping of water from a nearby river, which is then stored using storage tanks on a trestle.
