A fifty-three-year-old suspect has been arrested after he was found in possession of a motorcycle mirror belonging to a man who was robbed of his motorcycle on Saturday night after being waylaid at a Vlissengen Road stoplight.
The suspect, according to the police, has been identified as Khemraj Shaffie of Lot 28-29 Hadfield Street, Georgetown who police believe is the main suspect in the attack carried out by four men.
According to a police report, on Saturday night, the victim was riding his motorcycle along Vlissengen Road and stopped at the traffic light situated at the junction of Homestretch Avenue. One of the four suspects then jumped onto the rear of the motorcycle demanding that the victim ride to the nearby D’Urban Park which he did. When the victim got there, he was pounced on by three other perpetrators who relieved him of his motorcycle bearing licence plate #CK 4912 valued at $250,000, a Samsung cellphone valued at $25,000 and $1,500 in cash.
The victim then ran away and raised an alarm. A quick police response led to the capture of one of the four suspects.
Investigations are ongoing.
