Two Aquafina Water Delivery Service staffers were robbed yesterday in an attack at Dazzell Housing Scheme by two men, including one armed with a handgun.
Fabian Rampersaud, a 27-year-old driver of Nonpareil, East Coast Demerara, was relieved of a CAT cellphone, valued $16,000, and a gold chain, valued $35,000, while his workmate, Yasendra Bedessie, a 35-year-old labourer of Enterprise, East Coast Demerara, was relieved of $15,000 cash, an LG cellular phone valued $25,000 and an NTech cell phone.
A Guyana Police Force (GPF) report stated that the attack took place at about 11 am at Seventeenth Street Dazzell Housing Scheme.
Police enquiries revealed that the victims were turning their canter around when they were approached by the two suspects, who were on a bicycle. One of them was armed with a handgun while the other was armed with a cutlass.
The report disclosed that the suspect who was armed with a gun approached the driver’s side of the vehicle, while his accomplice armed with a cutlass went to the passenger’s side and struck the window, causing it to shatter.
They then demanded cash as they placed their hands into the vehicle and relieved the victims of the above mentioned articles and cash.
