In observation of International Women’s Day this year, the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security (MoHSSS) on Wednesday launched WE LIFT: Women’s Empowerment. We choose to Lead, be Innovative and flourish together; a campaign designed to highlight women’s successes in the various industries.
International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th under the theme ‘Choose to Challenge’.
With the campaign, the MoHSSS will be hosting a two-day exhibition on March 6th and 7th at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC), Liliendaal.
The event will include interactive sessions with persons from the Diplomatic community, various agencies and stakeholders. Persons will also be able to participate in discussions on beauty, wellness, enjoy massages and yoga sessions.
There will also be an open mic session.
Minister Vindhya Persaud on Wednesday told reporters that the event is part of the Ministry’s drive to facilitate women not only becoming employed but also owning their own businesses, flourishing in micro enterprises and moving up into leadership positions.
“This event will bring together a number of women so that we celebrate the strides that women have made and we also applaud their successes and inspire other women to follow in their footsteps so that they too can move to the point that we all want to see happen, empowerment, leadership, utilizing their skills to be innovative and allowing women across the world, especially in our nation to flourish together,” she explained.
The exhibition is part of a series of other events which will be hosted by the Ministry throughout the month in observation of International Women’s Day.
“…We are choosing to challenge. Let’s challenge the things that limit and also give women a hard time in reaching their potential,” Persaud said.
The event will be held on March 6th from 3pm to 7.30pm and on March 7th from 11.30am or 7.30pm. It is open to the public and strict COVID-19 restrictions will be in place.
