Dear Editor,
An article in the Stabroek News of February 28, 2020 states as follows, and I quote:
“The National Insurance Scheme (N.I.S.) yesterday announced a 4% increase in Old Age, Invalidity and Survivor’s pension for all persons who are in receipt of an amount that is above the minimum pension. A release from N.I.S. said that this increase will take effect from March 1, 2020.” As an N.I.S. pensioner receiving over the minimum pension, I wish to state that no such increase was reflected in my pension. A query on same to the N.I.S. did not receive a response. Can Stabroek News clarify with the N.I.S. whether such increase was in fact implemented and if not, why?
Yours sincerely,
D. Sookdeo
