The police constable involved in the Hibernia, Essequibo Coast accident which killed Symone Williams is still in police custody while the autopsy on the deceased is scheduled to take place on Saturday.
District Commander for Region Two, Superintendent Crystal Robinson, told Stabroek News that the police constable, Terry Samuels, remains in custody.
Meanwhile, the body of the 27-year-old deceased is slated to undergo a post mortem on Saturday. Post mortems along the Essequibo Coast are usually done on Thursdays and would have been done today but government pathologist, Nehaul Singh had to make a scheduled court appearance today and this therefore postponed the autopsy to Saturday.
It is alleged that the accident was as a result of the woman grabbing the steering wheel during an argument with Samuels.
According to Superintendent Robinson, the driver of the car, PMM 5509, reported that he and Symone were in a heated argument when she held onto the steering wheel which resulted in the car crashing into a parked car, PPP 4196, in Hibernia at 1.20 pm on Saturday.
Williams who was rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations are in progress.
