Guyana’s death toll as a result of the novel coronavirus now stands at 206. The Ministry of Health says that the latest fatality is a 39-year-old woman from Region Ten.
Meanwhile, 65 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded which increased Guyana’s total COVID-19 cases to 8,993. The new cases came after some 1,155 more persons were tested for the virus, thus increasing the total number of persons tested to date to 73,325.
There are now 550 active cases in the country, 31 of whom are in institutional isolation while another 519 are in home isolation. The total number of persons recovered to date now stands at 8,230 even as some seven persons remain in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.
